Laois and Cavan meet this Sunday (28th) June in the TG4 All Ireland Intermediate Relegation Play-off, with both sides battling to retain their Intermediate status for 2027.
Laois enter the contest following narrow defeats to Clare and Wexford. Despite these results, Laois have shown plenty of positive signs throughout the campaign, leading for significant periods within the games and demonstrating their competitiveness.
Cavan’s championship campaign began brightly with a three point win over Roscommon. However, following a heavy defeat to Down, score difference ultimately saw them finish in the relegation play-off position.
The winners of this tie will secure their Intermediate status for 2027, while the losers will face the defeated side from the Wicklow and Louth play-off.
Laois will look to their experienced players including Andrea Moran, Anna Healy and Fiona Dooley to lead the way, while current ZuCar Golden Boot leader Emily Lacey will be aiming to continue her impressive scoring form.
Cavan will provide a stern challenge. Division 2 finalists earlier this season and securing their promotion to Division 1 for 2027, they possess a number of talented players including former AFLW star Aishling Sheridan.
